Our Mission

At Solugen our mission is clear; to help the planet by revolutionizing heavy industry. We seek to reform manufacturing by producing carbon-neutral chemicals that will seamlessly integrate into existing heavy-industry processes.

Industrial manufacturing accounts for 23% of emissions and the chemical production it relies on sits at the bottom of the supply chain. Producing these chemicals is one of the most carbon-intensive processes in the world, consuming around 10% of the planet’s fossil fuels and emitting 3 billion metric tonnes of CO2e (that’s 5% of all emissions) annually, due to the high temperatures required to make them.

Rather than trying to eliminate these chemicals altogether, re-designing multiple industries from the top down, we invent carbon-neutral chemicals designed for seamless integration into a wide range of existing industrial processes.

We believe that by making small changes at the molecular level we can have a big impact at the planetary level.

How we fit in the Bio-economy

The White House has set an ambitious goal; that 30% of US chemical demand should be met by sustainable bio-manufacturing.  We’ve built state-of-the-art bio-manufacturing facilities, which we call Bio-forges, to produce pioneering new bio-chemicals in a sustainable way, ready to sell to industry.

From energy to defence we provide a transformative solution to help evolve the planet’s key industries into a fossil-free future, as the world accelerates towards net zero.

Case Study

The world produces 30 billion tons of concrete each year. That’s 60 cubic feet per person per year. To put it another way, around 30% of all biomass consumed by humanity every year, goes into making concrete. The implications are clear. If we can de-carbonize the production of concrete, we’ll be taking a giant leap towards lowering emissions.

With global concrete production contributing significantly to carbon emissions, our solution addresses this challenge head-on. Introducing the ReloxTM line: an innovative bio-based concrete admixture designed to improve the environmental footprint of concrete producers.

Traditional concrete uses ‘lignosulfonate-based’ chemicals to help improve porosity and reduce water. Our line of bio-chemicals are a green replacement for lignosulfonates, meeting performance standards, requiring less volume, reducing downstream emissions and ultimately enhancing the environmental profile of concrete producers.
